The Genomic
Medicine Research Core Laboratory (GMCRL), located on the first
floor of the J Building at the Lin-Kou Medical Center of Chang
Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), was opened on May 11, 2002. Aiming
to provide physician scientists and biomedical researchers of
CGMH and Chang Gung University with a state-of-the-art core
facility for genomic medicine research, GMCRL was the first
laboratory to be established among a series of Core Laboratories
in the Chang Gung System. |

GMRCL is
equipped with the comprehensive microarray analyzing system
(cDNA microarrays, Affymetrix oligonucleotide microarrays, genomic
microarrays), a laser capture microdissection system, a real-time

quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR)
system,and a mass spectrometer for matrix-assisted laser desorption/
ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) analysis (Table).
Our research goals involving genomic medicine include
understanding gene expression profile through mRNA analysis
and identifying disease-associated genomic variations through
examination of genomic DNA (Table). For the first goal, cDNA
microarray technology, laser capture microdissection and real-time
Q-PCR are employed. To complete the latter goal, genomic microarrays,
Affymetrix oligonucleotide microarrays, real-time Q-PCR and
MALDI-TOF will be used.
We are still recruiting
researchers into GMRCL, and current personnel include (from
left to right on the photo): Ding-Wei Hsueh, MS; Long-Kung Chen,
MS; En-Shih Chen, MS; Tzu-Hao Wang, MD. PhD; Wei-Shiang Gong,
MS; and Yun-Shien Lee, PhD. |
